BECOMING EPIC: THE STORY
Listen to a short excerpt of Matt reading from his new book, Becoming EPIC: A Practical Remedy to Mediocrity.
BECOMING EPIC
I believe that the process of becoming EPIC consists of four parts. Demonstrating Excellence by generating a track record of delivering quality outcomes. Sharpening Perception by cultivating contextual intelligence. Igniting Inspiration by fostering a transformational mindset. Practicing Compassion by embracing empathy and doing what is hard. When these four behaviors are commonplace one can become truly EPIC.

Battle for the Bulge™ was a tongue-and-cheek phrase, turned heartfelt, that my wife’s friends came up with to rally support and awareness to the devastating scourge that prostate cancer is for men and the people who love them.
EXCELLENCE IS AN ATTITUDE BEFORE IT IS AN OUTCOME

Six keys that help unlock your contextual intelligence
1. Embrace Complexity
Leadership and life are not complicated, but they are complex. Very complex! Understanding the difference is critical to developing foresight.
4. Practice Foresight
Practicing foresight requires answering the question, “what can I do to help create what we need?”
2. Leverage Synchronicity
“Coincidences” create the assumptions we live and lead by. Exploring how our memories shape what we experience unlocks accurate hindsight.
5. Use Hindsight
Using hindsight requires answering the question, “how are my memories influencing my decisions?”
3. Seek Tacit Awareness
The origin stories of what we have come to believe must be uncovered in order to accelerate wisdom and acquire insight.
6. Gain Insight
Gaining insight requires answering the question, “what is happening now that is influencing how I view my past and our future?”
